Lesedi Shubane is a Social Impact Coordinator at Participant Media, where she designs and executes impact campaigns that inspire, empower and connect audiences through Participant’s content. Lesedi works to build partnerships with non-profits, advocacy groups, and academic and cultural institutions to ensure that content like America to Me and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind reach key audiences and mobilizes viewers around highlighted issues.
Prior to Participant, Lesedi conducted research at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in South Africa and managed community engagement and social media at the MTN Bushfire International Festival of the Arts. She was also part of the inaugural class at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Development and Inclusion initiative.
Lesedi completed her BFA at Ringling College of Art and Design as a United World College Davis Scholar, where she won the Emerging Service Leader Award. She grew up in South Africa and eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland).
